Tell us a little bit about yourself
Being in my late twenties now - taking care of my mind, body and soul via a holistic approach is now a fundamental necessity for me. I love all things food, skin-care and wellness and have aspirations to project that to a wider audience in the future.
What do you love most about your body?
My curly hair, arms and back. I never used to embrace my curls and would straighten it into submission just to feel prettier and accepted. Growing up in a small, predominantly Caucasian town meant my hair would often be ridiculed for being too big, frizzy or poofy. It wasn't until I properly got into exercise and weight training around 6 years ago that I realised I couldn't keep up the maintenance of straightening as well as sweating through challenging training sessions! Getting physically stronger helped my mental state and confidence within my own skin, as well as benefiting my aesthetic and I'm very grateful for the (at times painstaking and perpetual) process. I still have days where I hate the way I look (as we all do) but the older I'm getting, the more I'm learning to accept what God and my Muma gave me and what I've steadily nurtured and built over the years.
If I could give my teenage self some advice, I would tell her…
You'll grow into your nose - give yourself a break! Don't let bitterness take over your heart. Go easy on the flat iron, your curls are to be embraced too.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Move my body with a gentle 10-minute mobility routine.
